Christian Service We reach "in" to serve our parishioners and reach "out" to answer the call of those in need in our area, state, and the world. The Christian Service Commission meets on a Sunday morning at 11:00 AM. See the Church Paper. Project Rachel We provide confidential counseling available for anyone personally touched by abortion. Call Joan Forrest, 313-381-3000 Soup Kitchen Out Reach Volunteers assist with meals at Soup Kitchen. We go as a group. Joan Forrest, 313-381-3000 Meals On Wheels Drivers deliver prepared meals to Allen Park two days each month. These volunteers receive a mileage allotment. Joan Forrest, 313-381-3000 Funeral Luncheon Program This all-volunteer group provides a luncheon following a funeral at Our Lady of the Angels. Parishioners donate food and assist in serving. To volunteer, please call Josie Garcia, 313-388-2796 or Ilene Fleszar, 313-292-1885. The Giving Tree During Advent this outreach program provides gifts for the needy. Food Pantry Our emergency Food Pantry, located in our Parish Office building, provides food for those in our area experiencing difficult financial situations. Our assortment of food is donated by our parishioners which can be brought to the church or parish office. The pantry hours are Mondays and Fridays 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM and Wednesdays 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Crisis Pregnancy Aid Centers Volunteers from Our Lady of the Angels serve the needs of clients at Crisis Pregnancy Center, 1760 Fort St., Lincoln Park, 313-386-4005 Christ net Rotating Shelter A rotating homeless shelter comes to Our Lady of the Angels for one week each spring. Many volunteers are needed to serve the homeless. Donations of specific care items are requested for the homeless at our shelter. Maxine Raymond, 313-383-5227 can give great details. Charity Stitchers A group who likes to sew, crochet, knit, etc. and meets on Wednesday 1:00 - 3:30 PM in our Parish Office meeting room from September to June. These stitchers prepare blankets and other items that are donated to charity. No experience necessary. Ilene Fleszar, 313-292-1885. Bereavement We provide information and support to those experiencing a loss. If we can help, call Joan Forrest, 313-381-3000.
